As an actor I know how hard it is to market yourself if you have limited experience and funds. Most actors have accumulated examples of their work on VHS, DVD, CDs and a host of other media. By putting these clips together in a short, entertaining demo reel the Casting Director can see how the actor looks on camera and stage. Our demo reels are designed with high production values to show off your clips in a viewable and affordable way. We produce high quality DVD as well as uploadable versions for you website.
This is a sample of a YouTube video being embedded into the web page. I like this way of doing it as the videos play without downloading. Click on the picture to see a demo of work I did for the Special Olympic Polar Plunge webcast in 2008
OMAR BAH DEMO
One of the most important aspects of the demo reel is its length. It must be short. I think under 5 minutes is best and, even then, it may get turned off before the end. Casting Directors are busy people. The running time should be printed on the label so they knows they're not in for a long haul. Also, your best clips should be at the front in case we don't make it to the end.
It is not neccesary to tell the story in the clip. Nobody cares about the plot... they want to see how the actor looks on camera. I concentrate on the actor and avoid long scenes with other actors that don't show off the client's work.
The most cost effective thing you can do is to plan the design of your demo before I start working on it. I charge an hourly rate so good preproduction work means fewer changes and, therefore, less cost.
Consider producing an abreviated version of one minute or less in addition to your full demo. This will allow you to upload to various casting websites that restrict your reel's length to 60 seconds.
